This is a warm and inviting welcome, Elin! The voice note is a great idea to connect with your audience on a more personal level. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and learning more about your art! ❤️
This is lovely Elin! You sound really good! Thank you for doing this, I actually recorded a voice note not too long ago with the intent to release it on Substack but just didn’t feel brave enough to do it. Thank you this is an inspiration for me. 😊
Oh lovely!! I’m glad it could inspire something! I felt really nervous too but knew I just had to break the ice. I’ll probably make shorter in the future but honestly didn’t want to think too much 🫣
Well done! I am impressed and you did it! I want to create a podcast one day because I simply love listening to them and I feel like I have so much to say. 😊
How lovely, and I feel very honoured to be included, Elin. Lovely to have the voice note option too. Your posts, drawings and Notes are always bright spots in my day, and make me smile.
It was nice to hear your voice! If you already have podcasts recorded, you might as well post them to your library…I’d listen to them!
You mentioned on writing about tips about running a business with your partner…have any tips for single women to find a partner that would be willing to help co-run their art business! 😂😂😂 I would love such a supportive partner! ☺️
What a lovely voice and accent you have, Elin! I would not have guessed the Swedish background, so thank you for the rich multi-accent backstory. People are so neat!
I too started experimenting with voice notes, recording a couple of my written posts as mini-podcasts. It's so weird hearing your own voice, but so lovely to hear others and get an even more personal connection to other writers on here. Well done for being brave and doing it!
You should definitely repurpose your podcast highlights. Your voice is soothing, and your unplaceable (and multi-placeable?) accent makes it such a unique experience. You really do subtly switch between American and British, and for some reason, you sound Australian once in a while, haha. More, please!
Haha unplaceable and multi-placeable - I like that!! It’s a mish mash indeed haha 😝 thanks for the encouragement! I’ll go digging through the podcast archive to see which ones will be good.. 💫
Right now, it's trial & error, but I can see the advantages. (If I can find the right voice) Hopefully when my story Man-child is finished, I will use it for my next Substack story !
PS. I love how you do things even when the conditions aren’t conventionally ideal, like recording while walking your youngest one. It’s inspiring. Not everything has to be ‘perfect’ to work.
Oh thanks I really appreciate this 🥰 it’s true, the conditions definitely don’t have to be perfect… I for one would never do anything if I had to wait for perfection 🙃
Very lovely, Elin. You sound more fun in audio. I am biased for text, but I also know that audio augmentation does definitely enrich the consumption experience. This was an excellent voice note. And yes, a podcast would be a good addition to the many possible ways of sharing your art.
Thanks Patrick, I’m glad! My preference is reading too, but I’ve enjoyed the smaller voice notes I’ve come across, so this was actually a bit longer than what I’m envisioning to add to the story. Maybe a 1-3 minutes idea dump when out in the forest or just home… I enjoy how substack gives you the possibilities to embed audio image and video very smooth and easily so it makes expression varied and fun. When we drop the fun we drop the purpose 😉 will you try and make audio you think?
Text, audio, video, I enjoy it all. Whatever you feel comfortable with, I say roll with it and see where it takes you! And since you've done the podcasting in the past, it'll be easier to jump back in.
In other words, I look forward to hearing more from you, Elin. 😊
Thank you Martin always such magical support 🙏🏼 it won’t be full on podcasts for new production… I’ll have to patiently wait for that til the girls are older haha. I’m envisioning more spontaneous little voice notes of couple minutes to capture an idea rather than lengthy readings I think… might experiment, but it’s rarely silent around here so I’ll have to try and go with the flow.

Thanks Ayesha! I just did this one on a whim! Feeling quite nervous about it, but hey it’s a first haha. Thanks for your support ❤️

You definitely should!! It’s a very fun experience and a great way to get to speak to lots of interesting people :)
Thank you for the encouragement, it means more than you know 😊.

Thank you Ann! I’m so glad 🥰 this means a lot to me!
Thanks for the voice note Elin! Love the idea. It definitely makes a difference after getting a sense of how you sound.
Thanks so much for your feedback!

Yay thanks Beth I’m so glad!! I’ll have to dig the archive and add some 💗 hahaha I wish I had a magic formula…. We met on tinder 8 years ago 🫣😆
Fellow language chameleon 👋switching up pronunciation depending on who I speak with (subconsciously) 😅
I’m all ears - and keen to hear the podcasts and snippets and voice overs. All so convenient and a nice mix♥️
Language chameleon is a thing right haha? 🫣💞
Thanks for the voice note - great idea !

Yay thanks!! You seem to have some exciting language stories too 👏👏

Haha it’s definitely weird isn’t it!! But it’s nice to connect 🙏🏼
Agreed!

Audio is my preference, "use the moment". At (the moment) I am testing AI for reading my story!
How are you finding it? I think I’m the person who tried to do everything BUT ai 😅

You not only write and draw well, you also sound very good!
Thanks Jörg!!

Hadn't thought about it... but now that you ask, I think I'll think about it.

Grateful to have you along either way 🙌💫
I like to do short voice notes too. And if there's noise, there's noise. I'm in a house of six peeps...There's ALWAYS noise. 😆
