A voice note to say hello and see whether you've googled my name or not 📣
Let me know in the comments if you liked it, will you?
Hi there,
How are you doing today?
I realized that most of you have never heard me speak and might be curious as to how I sound like. It feels relevant because I tend to think that I write a lot like I speak, so imagine this like an informal conversation of sorts.
I recorded it while baby wearing during my youngest’ nap yesterday, so if I sound out of breath you know why (If I stand still she wakes up, so I strolled up and down our dining room while chatting à la creative-mother-multitasker).
More podcast things?
It’s been almost 4 years since my husband and I stopped our podcast about the artist life and I feel very untrained to speak in flow.
Creative pursuits are a bit like running… when you’re out of habit, it can feel as though you never had it in the first place.
Despite having published weekly episodes for 2 years, none are currently available online… BUT I’m considering to bring some of the best nuggets back to Substack and my digital bookshop (I’ll chat about it in the voice note, feedback in comments is appreciated!).
Some other tangents I chat about…
I let you in behind the scenes of one of the strangest things that I’ve said on here, on multiple occasions: “Google my name!”
I giggle every time, equally embarrassed that it will be read the wrong way as proud that I can say such a thing.
Because yes, you can google my name if you’d like to see more of how my art looks like. I’ve only included a fraction of it on here so far…
For the past 5 months I’ve been experimenting and generally just been writing my heart out.
In all honesty, I desperately needed another outlet to regain my creative spark and I can feel it coming back in full blow.
As a result, I’m currently thinking of ways to incorporate more and more of my original art again.
By writing I’ve rediscovered my purpose, which isn’t just in the art itself but more so in the impact it can have (and has had) on those who are touched by it.
I’m not just in art-business. I’m also in the feel-good business, which may be what I’m most proud of.
Thanks for reading, and listening!
Don’t miss to let me know about the potential Podcast episodes in the comments?! And to give a heart ❤️ if you enjoyed this little voice note 💫
Elin, xx
Ps. Here’s a sketch from last week that I really like…
I also finished the May embroidery pattern for my Academy, which got its inspiration from a dear Substacker
. Check out the visual process below, unique patterns are available here.Huge THANK YOU to everyone who has upgraded your subscription so far. I feel very humbled receiving your paid notes - and they help me tremendously to see that art is truly a love language ❤️

Hi there, new here?
I’m Elin, Swedish (expat) artist and mother of two who have plunged into the unknown of Substack as a new writing home. Despite having 500k+ across mainstream social media platforms for my embroidery art, I decided to start afresh here. It’s hard, thrilling and joyful all in one. Come and join me for the ride if you haven’t done so already! You can expect thought-provoking and poignant writing about creativity, life and soulful art business with a touch of motherhood.
You can also check out the how, why, who and what in this post.
This is a warm and inviting welcome, Elin! The voice note is a great idea to connect with your audience on a more personal level. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and learning more about your art! ❤️
This is lovely Elin! You sound really good! Thank you for doing this, I actually recorded a voice note not too long ago with the intent to release it on Substack but just didn’t feel brave enough to do it. Thank you this is an inspiration for me. 😊
