The way to make the impossible happen is to believe it’s possible
A glimpse into my dream manifestation drawings, because they make the dream more real.
Welcome to Follow Your Gut, a newsletter about the artist life and business from a mother of two. After soon a decade as an independent artist and writer, the question is not only how to do it, but how to continue to follow your gut in a world that tries its best to stuff it with fluff.
85% of new letters are free to read for 3 days, whereafter they go behind a paywall. If this is our first date, I warmly invite you to check out the free archive first. I’m Swedish after all, don’t want to be too pushy (just a loving nudge ❤️).
Hi there,
I have a dream.
Actually, I have many dreams. But one of them is to one day own a motorhome so that I can cruise Europe with my family.
Maybe it will look something like this…
Or this…?
Those of you who follow me over on Notes too have probably seen me sketch plenty of motorhomes at this point…
And the thing is, it’s part of making myself believe it’s possible. A way of manifesting the dream into reality.
I don’t just draw it.
I also talk about it (like in this letter, and in reality to people we meet… as if it’s something that WILL happen, because it will, right?)
A couple of weeks ago, on a rainy Thursday, we took our girls to a big motorhome showroom about 45 minutes from home.
They LOVED it.
Best playground ever. Now my soon 4-year old can’t stop talking about it either haha. Plus we see motorhomes on the road on a daily basis…
“Look Mum, another one! I also want a camping car. I want a pink one. But they are all white. But we can paint it pink. It’s not a problem, Mum. I can paint it for you. Mum.”
Yes, please. I wouldn’t mind a pink one. Though, I proposed her that we paint the inside instead.
Perhaps I could embroider something pink on the seats… or pink curtains! That’s a good compromise, don’t you think?
The inside
It’s not just the exterior or colour scheme that matter… The interior layout is important too. Especially as we’d be looking for something that can age along with us.
We currently love to sleep all bundled up, so I enjoy the idea of a large bed at the back where all four can squeeze, but with the option to have a pull down 2-person bed as well for the day the girls think their parents aren’t as cosy anymore (which only happen to others right haha? 😜)
Maybe this is all utterly boring to you… but it felt important somehow.
Not only because you who choose to upgrade your subscription to my publication (woho!!) will inevitably contribute to making my dream reality by 70% (the other 30% goes into another dream for my non-profit heart projects 💗)
But also because I wanted to show a glimpse into how I make the impossible possible by believing it will happen, exactly like it read on a sign I saw at the playground yesterday.
And no, I didn’t make that one up.
There was actually a sign at the playground we went to yesterday that translates roughly to “the best way to make the impossible happen is to believe it’s possible” and it was just the best thing.
Thank you for reading and bringing me a tiny bit closer!
If you enjoyed it, let me know with a heart ❤️ below 🥰
Elin, xx
Ps. If you, or someone you know, have experience with motorhomes I’d be thrilled to know all about it in the comments!
And while you’re at it… why don’t you share your dream too? 🤩
Hi there, new here?
I’m Elin, Swedish (expat) artist and mother of two who have plunged into the unknown of Substack as a new writing home. Despite having 500k+ across mainstream social media platforms for my embroidery art, I decided to start afresh here. It’s hard, thrilling and joyful all in one. Come and join me for the ride if you haven’t done so already! You can expect thought-provoking and poignant writing about creativity, life and soulful art business with a touch of motherhood.
You can also check out the how, why, who and what in the post below:
My husband and I also have a dream of owning a motorhome! Our dogs would love it too. The Winnebago Ekko is so cool! Definitely our dream option
This was hugely inspirational for me. One of my goals for the summer is to get a sketchbook and return to my long-forgotten habit of sketching daily. I love the idea of sketching one's dreams into reality. I think I'll try that. I look forward to seeing your motorhome! A pink interior would be lovely.
