Dear Elin, thank you for sharing this beautiful perspective! I had never thought of that win-win-win situation you describe but IT’S SO TRUE! 😆 and I’m looking forward to have my first encounter where I present myself as an artist.
Ps. Fellow Swede currently residing in Berlin, Germany!
Hej Viktoria!
I love this, Elin! So many important gems 💎 of wisdom in here. I’ve been a “stay in line” / “do the job that you ‘should’ do” / “being an artist is scary” person. But I recently gave myself permission to just start creating for fun here on Substack. It’s incredibly liberating for all the reasons you describe 👏
Thank you, Elin! I’ve loved discovering your writing this year. You’ve showed me that creativity is a “valid” path and I don’t need anyone’s permission to follow it. Wishing you a beautiful 2025 😍
Love the sweater, and the idea (new to me, believe it or not) of using embroidery to rescue a stained piece of clothing. I thought that I was subscribed to the embroidery substack, but see that I wasn't. Will switch over to that, so please don't work about the unsubscribe to this one.
I love this article! Thank you! I decided a few months back that I was an artist at heart. Shortly after that, I decided that life is an adventure to be lived, and that we need to stop trying to control people or outcomes. It’s incredibly liberating to live this way; frightening, but liberating. I have more possibilities than ever before, simply because I’m trying more things than ever before. Isn’t that interesting? Fear kills possibility, and traps us in a life half-lived. Maybe I need to make my next Substack about my experiences of that 🤔 Thank you for making me think 🥰
LOVE this sentiment Elin! Thanks for sharing!! I so resonated with this:
“I thoroughly believe that we only regret the things we never try. Because if we don’t try them, we don’t know. And once we try, we know whether we want to do it again or just pop it into our backpack of experiences for a future book. Books need stories, and what better way to collect them than through pursuing out-there ideas?”

Yay I’m glad you found the stack the best suited for you 🥰 most times that I stitch on fabric is actually due to stains haha 🫣

I call it a life without what ifs ✨
And that Creativity = liberation 💕
Yes yes yes 🙌 creative expression = liberation 😍😍 thanks for being here Megan 🥰
Thanks for showing up and sharing Elin!!
For me artists are the most interesting people in any room or at a party. Artists are the people I want to know. They are kindred spirits.
Magic! Thank you Deb!! It tends to be interesting things going on and a whole lot of love 🥰
