Hi there,
I’m a full time independent artist and writer and have been for soon a decade. There are times when I think I have it all figured out, and other times when I feel like I’m just as fresh out of the womb as the first day I shared my art online.
So if you feel like you’re drowning. That you’re overwhelmed or a failure that you are the only one who haven’t “figured it out yet”, Don’t worry - we all do and it’s part of the ride 💜
I like to think that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the highs if I didn’t know the lows too. That the rollercoaster ride that is life, and art, is a necessary evil for richness. Not richness in the sense of money, but more so richness in life and its wide range of experiences.
How amazing that we get to have it all. For once, we don’t have a choice of only getting the good or easy stuff, and it’s a liberation to submit to the tumultuous journey that makes a life worth living 🙏🏼
On that note, here’s a list of 20 things that I have to remind myself of almost daily:
Done is better than perfect
Today is better than tomorrow
Messy is better than not at all
Don’t make it bigger than it is
Don’t overthink before you try
Don’t over analyze when it’s already been done
Just try, you can’t know what you don’t know
It’s ok to change your mind
It’s ok to not feel like it
You’re doing a great job
You don’t have to say yes
You don’t have to be everywhere
You are allowed to take a break
You’re allowed to be super excited and celebrate the little things like it was the biggest thing in the world
You’re allowed to feel down and grateful at the same time
You’re allowed to go with the flow
You decide the rules
You set your rates
You don’t have to take other’s advice if you don’t want to
Follow your gut
What would you add?
Thank you for reading!
Elin xx

Or why not get my book When Will You Get A Real Job? I think you’d like it 🥰
So beautifully said, Elin!I wish all your 20 points were true for me too! 🥹 And I would add this one: You don't have to wait for the end of the project to celebrate, you can celebrate small achievements at every step of the project. 😌
I love everything about this post!
I’d add these two which might be covered already (so I’ll also add Surrender to failing 😉)
